Friends of Baltimore

Well, I finally took the plunge and signed up for Sue Garman's wonderful Baltimore Album Quilt, Friends of Baltimore.

I've been following along on her blog as she designed it, and patiently waiting for the pattern to be available. It's so stunning, and I can't imagine the amount of work it took to create it. Here is a close-up of one of the first month's two blocks.

Each border is unique, and each vase different. The flowers in the vases at the corners are appliqued after the borders are sewn together, hiding the seams, which I haven't see before.

If you want to join up, the BOM is available now at Quakertown Quilts. There are a lot of different ways to order it; pattern, kit, or even an option to have the pattern printed out on freezer paper already, which I think is a great idea for us time-crunched stitchers. You can read more about the quilt, and see more pictures, on Sue's blog. Care to join me??

Maybe you've noticed the new button on my sidebar. I've been selected as one of the 50 Best Quilting Blogs by Guide to Art Schools. There are some very talented ladies on the list, and I am honored to be in such great company! Be sure and check out the list, either by clicking on the button, or here. There are many of my favorite blogs listed, and some that are new to me. I'll be checking out the new ones to see what I'm missing.

Please keep our Aussie friends affected by Hurricane Yasi in your thoughts and prayers.

Hi, My name is Marjorie and I found your blog by google searching for the Baltimore Friends quilt. I'm strongly considering starting this quilt, although it's been years upon years since I've done any quilting. I do sew, and knit, and weave, and ...
And I'm from Traverse City, although currently I'm on the Chesapeake, living on a sailboat. I was in GR though about 3 weeks ago, visiting my son and daughter-in-law there. My son is a firefighter with GR fire dept.
Have you started this quilt? Guess I should refresh this page and see if your blog has recent entries and an update on the quilt.
I can't tell from the site at Quakertown quilts what they're using for background fabric. The only site that tells what background they're using, that I can find, started this BOM in June and are sold out on both the ivory background kits and the white that they were offering.
