The 9th Day of Christmas

The next room had coverlets made by D. Craig from there in Greensburg. I don't know a lot about coverlets, but I never get tired of looking at them.

These are a set of cards used on a Jacquard loom by Craig for one of his coverlets. They were found in someone's attic!

Here is a model a man made c. 1950, of the Decatur County Courthouse, which is famous for having a tree growing out of it since the early 1870's, although it hasn't always been the same tree! You can read more about it here.

Here's what the actual courthouse looks like today.

Tune in tomorrow to see me wearing a long deceased bird. ;)

Fabulous!
So many motifs common in quilts, coverlets, housewares and samplers.
I'm partial to the two color coverlets.
hmmm....long deceased bird?!?
This has been a wonderful tour.

Those coverlets are gorgeous....I especially like that last one! Wow! And that is such an interesting story about the tree on the roof top! Very cool!

FYI....the link went to an error page....but I googled it!

Beautiful coverlets. I have never
heard about the tree in the courthouse. I will definitely read the story. Very interesting.

Those are absolutely gorgeous coverlets. You don't see them very often so it was so nice to see the lovely patterns
